Grow Your Own" Career Pathways with KKP & Ka Lama Education Academy 🗺️
Friday July 17, 2026 10:10am - 11:40am HST
Audience: EAs, Substitutes, Emergency Hires, and Certified Teachers (All KKP Staff Welcome!) Track: Career Advancement & Community Roots
Description: Aloha Trailblazers! Are you ready to map out your next professional expedition, but not quite sure which path to take or how to fund the journey? Grab your gear and join us around the campfire!
KKP and the Ka Lama Education Academy are fiercely dedicated to a "Grow Your Own" model of education. We firmly believe that the best future teachers are the ones who already live in our communities, know our families, and love our keiki. No matter where you are starting from on the mountain, we have a trail guide for you!
In this collaborative, resource-packed workshop, we will break down the maps for three distinct pathways:
  1. The Aspiring Teacher Trek: For EAs, substitutes, and support staff who are ready to take the leap into becoming fully certified classroom teachers. We’ll show you the exact steps and programs available to get you there.
  2. The Emergency Hire & Praxis Pass: For our current emergency hire teachers or anyone staring down a Praxis exam. Learn how to access vital financial assistance for test fees, alongside dedicated coaching to ensure you clear the hurdle.
  3. The Summit Reclassification: For our already certified kumu who are ready to climb to the next pay tier. We will demystify the reclassification process, helping you turn your professional development into higher pay.
Don't hike alone! Come "talk story" with the KKP Induction & Mentoring team and Ka Lama to get the coaching, counseling, and financial assistance you need to thrive. Let’s build a stronger, community-rooted workforce together.
Add this session to your Sched lineup and let's start climbing!
